Epson, Canon (and others) practically give away their printers because they make money on the cartridges. These little plastic containers filled with 50 cents of ink sell for $20 to $40. In an effort to keep the stranglehold on this windfall, they imply that there is some secret to these cartridges and using another brand will ruin your printer. They top it off by putting in the warranty "warranty may be void if other brand cartridges are used." There is no secret to these cartridges. Chemists have determined the ink formula and duplicated it. For over three years I have been using and selling compatible cartridges. They work just as well as the name brand and seem to last even longer since the clone brands are more generous with the amount of ink they give you. In the very rare event that your Epson printer fails, Epson ships an immediate replacement and tells you to use the box it came in to ship your printer back. So even if you are using clone cartridges, by the time Epson discovers this, you will already have your replacement printer.

One of my customers recently had to take her Canon printer to an authorized service center. To her surprise, they replaced her ink cartridges with a clone brand! If it's good enough for authorized Canon dealers, it's good enough for you!

I have had folks tell me, "I won't use some cartridge made in China." Guess what? Epson cartridges are also made in China. Possibly in the very same factory.

So don't worry about their scare tactics. Save over 75% by using clone cartridges.

Although companies can't legally void your warranty simply for using third-party toner or ink, most manufacturers warn that print quality and printer reliability may suffer, and most reserve the right not to cover the cost of repairing a printer damaged through the use of third-party cartridges. Printer manufacturers may exaggerate the risks of using such cartridges, but at least in some cases, their concerns seem justified. That said, plenty of people have long used third-party toners and inks without any problems.

FREE EPSON PRINTER UTILITY with purchase. We have found a third-party utility for Epson which replaces the one provided by the company. It shows you how much ink is in the cartridge with much more accuracy. It lets you reset the level (Epson printers actually report empty cartridges when there is still 15% of the ink left). It lets you clean the black and color independently.

The LI-Ion battery sold under the Kodak Klic3000 label is identical to the Toshiba PDR-BT2 (which replaced the BT1 and may have been since discontinued) and can be used in the Toshiba PDR-M4, M5, and M70 cameras.
