The charger has the following features:
- adjustable charging posts so it fits just about any camcorder, digital camera, laptop or cellphone battery
- reverse polarity alarm that warns you if the battery is inserted incorrectly
- reverse polarity switch, so you can correct the error without removing the battery
- discharge feature, that will discharge those annoying "memory" batteries. This can even restore older batteries to new life
- LEDs which show charging progress at about 30%, 60%, 90% and completed
- temperature guage which will shut down the recharger if the battery gets hot
- 12 volt adaptor for the house. (If you get a universal adaptor for foreign countries, you can use this outside of the U.S.
- 12 volt adaptor for the car
- alligator clips to fit any battery that even the adjustable posts won't reach
Using the charger:
On the side of the charger with the leds is a latch that lets the bay door open. When you open the bay door, you have control to adjust the charging posts horizontally or vertically. There are charging posts at the top and sides of the terminals, so it should be possible to adjust them to any battery. The top of the charger is magnetic, so the battery is held in place. Adjust the posts to fit the contacts on the battery. If the posts can not be adjusted to fit, it comes with alligator clips that plug into a receptacle and clip on to the battery. Below are examples using the type of battery used in the Toshiba PDR-M4/M5/M70, Fuji MX series and Kodak DC4800.

After the contacts are touching, close the bay door. The charger should beep once or twice and the charge light should start blinking. If the charger beeps continuously, the polarity is reversed. On the other side of the charger is a switch that lets you reverse the polarity. Make sure you place the magnetic temperature guage on the battery. This will shut down the charger if the battery gets hot.
